The Lower Antelope Canyon is a “V” shaped canyon that is best viewed in the early morning or late afternoon. You can park directly outside of the canyon entrance and do not need to book a tour. However if you want to take a photo tour then you had better have a 35mm camera and tripod. I have a very nice 35mm Sony Nex-6 but they said it was not good enough for the tour. Fortunately I was one of the first there when they opened and was able to stay ahead of about 15 people in my group. The photo tour people that started at the same time but at the other end were as serious as heart attacks and did not like anyone in their shots. This canyon requires you to ascend and descend into the canyon via ladders. There is nothing difficult about this and I saw old and young handle them without problem. In the Lower Canyon you enter at one end and exit the other so there is no going back for a re-shoot. (The Upper Canyon is a one way in and the same way back which adds to the confusion.)
