Toroweap/Tuweap area of the North Rim of the Grand Canyon
The National Park Service sign says - “Improvements are minimal and services are non-existent. There is no water, gas, lodging, or food. There is NO telephone or cell coverage at Tuweep.”
Doesn’t that say it all? It’s a 61 mile drive from the highway, which isn’t far until you blow two tires or break down. Luckily my JK did just fine. The last 5 miles are single track, very rocky and only suitable for high clearance 4X4s and bikes. When you reach the end of the road there are no signs, no guardrails, just a 3,000 foot drop. I thought I had run over a snake and went back to give mouth to mouth but it coiled and hissed so I went on my way. It was a great day trip and highly recommended.
